Final conference on the 'Decent work & Industrial Relations' Project

On 27 May, SOLIDAR alongside its project partners, presented the final outcomes of the “Decent Work & Industrial Relations” project and launched the

brochure of recommendations

for European and national stakeholders at a conference in Bucharest. Topics discussed included working conditions, and in particular how decent work can be achieved through social dialogue. The main conclusion from the conference was that in order for social dialogue to be effective and comprehensive, civil society organisations need to contribute.

The conference participants - representatives of NGOs, trade unions and employers as well as the Brussels ILO office; DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities; the Romanian representative for Business Europe and the Romanian State Secretary for Social Dialogue - were able to share views and identify the obstacles and challenges to real social dialogue. In an interactive panel, chaired by Jan Cremers, several concrete proposals were addressed to Romanian and international representatives.
