EU4U live from Austria

Today, Friday 9 July, is the second day of the EU4U conference, taking place in Linz, Austria. The event is being livestreamed so that people both inside and outside of the conference can ask questions to the panelists and contribute to the debate via a message board posted on the EU4U website. Tune in at 5 pm to contribute to the discussion on ‘Bridging the gap between EU institutions and citizens’ and tomorrow morning at 10 am for the final session on ‘the future of the EU’.

The first session took place this morning was framed in the context of ‘social Europe’. participants and panelists expressed their concerns about the sustainability and future of our social model, in particular by touching atypical work for young people like internships, flexicurity and pensions. After proposingthe introduction for a European award for socially sustainable cities, the last words come from SOLIDAR President, Josef Weidenholzer, "The only competition we should have is to try to be the one who takes better care of others andof people experiencing poverty and exclusion".
