Following our Education and Lifelong Learning Forum taking place in Paris on 12 December 2018, the European Social Meetings will take place from 12 to 15 December.
Co-organised by CEMEA France, the event will draw about 200 participants and will be a space to elaborate alternative proposals to populism and the rise of nationalism in Europe. The European Social Meetings aim to provide a shared space to exchange practices of social intervention and produce analysis about social phenomena in Europe and the conditions for living together. They will also be a space to elaborate arguments and alternative proposals to counter European liberal policies and national withdrawal.
These meetings will bring together stakeholders who share the same values and a common conception of social intervention. At this event we will look at how to participate in the transformation of society, by influencing power relationships, organisational models, individual and collective freedoms to achieve greater social justice.
This political dimension of social work will be discussed in workshops and roundtables in view of the upcoming European elections in 2019, and topics will include civil society independence and community-based projects to enhance social and inclusive participation to combat inequalities and social injustice.
SOLIDAR Foundation will cover the participation fee for the event that includes accommodation (3nights) in double rooms, lunch (x3) and access to all the event’s activities.
Additionally we will reimburse the travel expenses up to €300.
