The Slovakian labour market continues to suffer from a high unemployment rate, specifically including high rates of long term and youth unemployment Combined with the problematic quality and labour market relevance of the education system, this leads to a difficult school-to-work transition for graduates. Moreover, the low adult participation rate in lifelong learning does little to correct this situation. Discrimination and social exclusion remains a challenge, particularly for the Roma population.
