Our Training Academy in Holíč, Slovakia
Participating in the Academy and being able to exchange best practices is among one of the many benefits for our member organisations. As part of our Training Academy 2018, SOLIDAR Foundation brought participants to the town of Holíč in Slovakia to train them and discuss the evolving practice of inclusive education and the rise of populism in Europe.
What did we do?
- The main objective of the academy was to actively engage participants to discuss and share ideas on inclusive and participatory education, and thereby to learn how to advocate greater democratic participation and inclusion for all when faced with barriers on the local, national and European level.
- Promote the discussion on the future of education in Europe and its social dimension particularly in light of the rise of populism and hate speech across Member States.
- Built a common space for exchanging members’ best practices on inclusiveness through non-formal and informal education within and beyond national borders as well as working on strategies through creative thinking to best counter extreme right-wing and nationalist narratives.
- Discover the civic space in Slovakia in regard to opportunities for further cooperation and partnership building.
We thank all participants for their active involvement and participation in the Training Academy. We would also like to thanks our Slovak member AOPSS Slovakia, and in particular Mária Kovaľová and Andrea Svrčková for their great support and help on site.
