At the beginning of 2018, in a rapidly changing economical and (hopefully for the better) social environment, SOLIDAR with the support of the S&D Group and the Party of European Socialists (PES) organises its 15th edition of the Silver Rose Awards. A unique evening that highlights achievements and promotes successful initiatives and actions of individuals or organisations who notably contributed to social justice regardless of the political environment.
From the vast number of nominations the Jury, composed of MEPs and representatives of major trade unions and civil society organisations, selected six awardees in several categories: Together for Social Europe, Building Learning Societies, Organising International Solidarity, Lifetime Achievement Award and finally, a Special award by the Jury.
This year the Jury had to make some sensitive choices as each of awardees is active in the highly discussed field such as Women’s Rights, Workers’ protection or a highly politicised topic, the protection of Whistleblowers.
In the upcoming weeks we will be presenting each of our awardees, their stories, their achievements, their thoughts, their relevance for promoting Social Justice in Europe and worldwide!.
Keep an eye on our website and social media and to meet the outstanding winners in person join us on 23rd January at 19:00 in the European Parliament.
