Six Years of Pushbacks from Croatia - Joint statement from European CSOs
SOLIDAR Croatian member Centre for Peace Studies (CMS) has been monitoring pushbacks perpetrated in the Croatian territory and at its borders for years. CMS jointly with Welcome Initiative just published ''Illegal Expulsions from Croatia in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic'', the 7th edition of a yearly report on pushbacks in Croatia.
In light of the findings, the two organisations also released a statement co-signed by SOLIDAR, calling on Croatia and the EU to:
- put an end to pushbacks, systemic violence and human rights violations
- investigate the violations and sanction the responsible parties
- establish an independent & transparent border monitoring mechanism
