Training Academy 2021 SOLIDAR & SOLIDAR Foundation - A toolkit

Between 29 September and 1 October SOLIDAR and SOLIDAR Foundation organised the 2021 edition of the Training Academy. The event has established itself as SOLIDAR’s main capacity building action for its membership, across all thematic pillars. This years edition was titled Acting for a Sustainable and Socially Just Transition: Leaving no one behind while fighting to protect the planet, delving directly into the topic of ensuring a Just Transition, in complete alignment with SOLIDAR’s new strategic orientation for 2021-2025. The event was organised in online format, and it aimed at ensuring a common baseline understanding of the Just Transition, ensuring that all members of SOLIDAR and SOLIDAR Foundation can advance the aims of SOLIDAR’s strategy in the coming years, while using a collective language. This initial session was followed by two thematic ones, focusing on the manifestation of the Just Transition concept in the field of social affairs on one side, and in the field of education on the other side. The education-focused session allowed participants to build up their knowledge on a model of learning which is conducive towards reviewing current learning activities under the lens of the Just Transition. Specifically, experiential learning, as a method, was presented to all participants so that they can adapt their current actions to include a Just Transition angle to them. Within the social affairs focused session, participants grasped the basic steps of setting up a campaign that links one of their themes with the concept of the Just Transition.

The Training Academy represents on of many capacity building actions that SOLIDAR has been organising on transitioning the work of the members due to the pressures of the climate emergency. The outcome of the Training Academy is a toolkit for all the members of SOLIDAR and SOLIDAR Foundation to use to allow them to delve deeper into this transition and find ways to continuously adapt their work to the 21st century challenges. The toolkit can be found below under the format of a digital booklet.
