We stand together with Nasrin Sotoudeh, Iranian activist

Together with Olof Palme International Center, ABF SWEDEN and IFWEA we stand in solidarity: the condition of Nasrin Sotoudeh in Iran is critical. Unjustly imprisoned, on behalf of Iranian political prisoners Nasrin Sotoudeh began a hunger strike on August 11 against the pitiable conditions in Evin prison (Tehran).

  • We support the call of PEN International and urge our national branches and individual members to write to Iranian institutions and embassies.
  • We call upon the EU High Representative Josep Borell to make use of the position of the EU and the relationships fostered through the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), to plead with his Iranian counterparts in her case.

Nasrin Sotoudeh has just been anounced as a recipient of the Right Livelihood Award 2020 (the alternative "Nobel Prize"), together with 3 other laureates for 2020.
