On 20 February we celebrated the World Day of Social Justice. Social justice is not only the underlying principle for prosperous and peaceful societies and the cornerstone for progressive and fair economic growth but also a driving force behind the actions of many citizens, volunteers and organisations who strive to leave no-one behind.
Many mechanisms, policies and agendas setting out a pathway to fair, democratic and socially just societies have been put forward by European and global governments, and many times the implementation of those ended shortly after the glamorous kick-off events.
SOLIDAR calls for social justice delivered through the effective implementation of Agenda 2030 – a transformative agenda for change. Together with this, social justice in the EU can be guaranteed through the implementation of all 20 principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights, an ambitious plan that offers all Europeans as well as people who are making Europe their new home, the right to decent work and a decent life! And we call for Social Justice by achieving the targets from the “Education and Training 2020” (ET2020) programme that provides access to quality and inclusive education and lifelong learning for all.
All these programmes are designed to face challenges such as the jobless and unsustainable growth that is imposed by a few to the disadvantage of the many. SOLIDAR will continue to create coalitions and fight for our goals in European as well as the global arenas. Join us and raise your voice wherever you are – we are stronger together and through our actions, whether they are small or big, local or global, online or offline of we keep advancing social justice!
