The Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) is an opportunity for European citizens to debate and have a say on Europe’s challenges and priorities. The EU institutions have committed to listen to Europeans and to follow-up, within their sphere of competences, on the recommendations made. By Spring 2022, the Conference is expected to reach conclusions and provide guidance on the future of Europe.
SOLIDAR works towards making the Conference on the Future of Europe participatory and reflecting the great diversity of European civil society, and for voicing in its Plenary the position of our membership. We do so thanks to the representation in the Civil Society Convention on the Future of Europe, which gathers over 75 European networks and platforms with constituencies across Europe, uniting millions of citizens active in all areas of life: from education to culture, social inclusive, environment, governance and transparency. It was initiated by Civil Society Europe, of which SOLIDAR is a co-founder, to create a link between civil society organisations and the institutional setting of CoFoE, in order to ensure that citizens’ proposals and concerns will be taken into account in the agenda setting, discussions and are followed up with themost adequate and concrete policy, legislative and, if relevant, treaty change solutions. Within the Convention, SOLIDAR is coordinating the cluster Social Europe which will lead to a comprehensive set of proposals contributing to the overall CSOs’ vision for the future of European democracy and the priorities for the EU. The proposals developed by the thematic clusters will be presented and discussed in the plenary sessions of the Convention and sent to decision-makers, media, and civil society all around Europe.
SOLIDAR is proudly championing the participation of Civil Society Organisations in the Conference on the Future of Europe to enhance the bottom-up participatory dimension of this important process which will define the coming priorities for the Union.
To this end, and on the basis of the responses to the survey that we launched over the summer, we are starting a series of special issue newsletters to learn more about the CoFoE, SOLIDAR participation in it and, most importantly, how to engage directly in the process!
Subscribe to the newsletter and don't miss any news on the Conference!
