Case study 'The social economy is my chance'

The project The social economy is my chance! facilitates access to employment for vulnerable groups by developing three social economy enterprises in two regions in Romania. It provides vocational guidance and vocational training, as a means of consolidating a cohesive and inclusive society, in order to ensure the well-being of all citizens. The specific objectives are:

  • Promoting the social economy as a flexible and sustainable form of economic development and job creation;
  • The establishment of three social economy enterprises (SEEs), in Iasi,Suceava and Bucharest, which create and maintain 30 new jobs in rural and urban areas;
  • Strengthening the capacities, skills, knowledge and self-esteem of 485 people belonging to vulnerable groups by providing advisory services (vocational guidance) and training.

CONECT (formerly known as ADO SAH ROM) was founded in 2000 and is active in the fields of migration, decent work and social dialogue. The association carries out awareness campaigns, research, advocacy and monitoring of public policies, facilitating citizens’ access to services and promoting the interests of different social groups. Its main donors are the European Commission, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Romanian Government. ADO SAH ROM is an affiliated member of SOLIDAR and a founder of the Romanian NGDO Platform (FOND Romania). It employs nine people and occasionally works with volunteers.
