SUMMARY:Learning Beyond the Classroom: Strengthening Citizenship & Digital Competences across Europe
DESCRIPTION:SOLIDAR+ invites you to the conference Learning Beyond the Classroom: Strengthening Citizenship & Digital Competences across Europe\, exploring how non-formal and informal learning (NFIL) contributes to the development of citizenship and digital competences\, and what is needed to create enabling learning environments across Europe. \nAbout the Conference \nEach year\, SOLIDAR+ dedicates its policy work to a specific thematic focus\, culminating in the publication of a policy paper. In 2026\, this work explores the role of NFIL in developing citizenship and digital competences. It is part of the Civil Society Cooperation grant\, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme. \nThe process began with the Policy Knowledge Exchange in April 2026 and continued with research leading to the paper Enabling Learning Environments: The Role of Non-Formal and Informal Learning in Fostering Citizenship and Digital Competences. \nThe conference will present the paper’s key findings\, followed by a roundtable discussion bringing together CSOs\, EU representatives and policymakers to discuss how enabling learning environments can be strengthened to support (digital) citizenship education. \nInterested? You can find the draft programme here and click here to register (registrations close on 09/11). \nTime & Location \nEuropean Parliament\, Brussels\, Room ASP1G369 & Online | Tuesday 17 November 2026 | 09:30 – 11:30.

SUMMARY:SOLIDAR Days 2026: Strengthening and safeguarding our social Europe
DESCRIPTION:The SOLIDAR Days are back! The SOLIDAR Days are a moment for SOLIDAR’s members\, partners and the wider network to come together for events\, strategy meetings\, panels\, and networking opportunities concluding with our annual Silver Rose Awards Ceremony. The SOLIDAR Days will take place between Tuesday 1 December and Wednesday 2 December.  \nThis year\, with the negotiations of the next EU budget in full swing\, we are asserting the need to strengthen and safeguard our social Europe. In this context\, we not only need to protect the progress we’ve made\, but put pressure on our leaders to remain ambitious. The SOLIDAR Days have an important role to foster a meaningful space of exchange\, development\, and movement-building to strengthen our membership and the progressive movement at large. \nThere are several public events taking place within the framework of the SOLIDAR Days. \n\nNo rights without social investment: will the next EU budget deliver a social Europe and a just transition?\nTuesday 1 December\, 14:15-16:30\nEuropean Parliament & online\n \nThe EU’s next long-term budget will be one of its most important political decisions\, shaping Europe’s future for years to come. But will it deliver on the Union’s promises of a fairer\, more equal and sustainable Europe? \nOrganised by SOLIDAR in cooperation with the Socialists & Democrats (S&D) Group in the European Parliament\, the Social Europe Conference 2026 will bring together Members of the European Parliament\, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders to discuss how the European Parliament can defend an ambitious social and environmental agenda in the upcoming interinstitutional negotiations on the next EU budget\, ensuring that the Union’s commitments translate into concrete policies and investments that improve people’s lives. \nThe conference will open with the preliminary findings of SOLIDAR’s Social Rights Monitor 2026\, highlighting persistent gaps in the implementation of social rights across Europe and the need for stronger public investment. Building on this evidence\, discussions will explore what is at stake in the EU budget negotiations\, which social and environmental priorities must be safeguarded\, and how civil society and other  stakeholders from both the EU and national levels can help build political momentum for an EU budget that puts people and the planet first. \nRegister here by the 20 November. \n\nCLADES Conference: Language as a tool for democratic engagement\nWednesday 2 December\, 14:00-17:30\nEuropean Parliament \nCLADES (Critical Language Awareness\, Democratic Engagement and Sustainability) is an Erasmus+ funded project running from October 2024 to August 2027\, coordinated by the University of Groningen alongside SOLIDAR+\, Comenius University\, the University of\nGhent\, and the University of Gloucestershire. The conference builds on the materials developed under CLADES Resource Lab 1 and 2\,\nopening them up to a wider European audience. The event aims to engage education and training stakeholders from across Europe\, including academics\, stakeholders working in formal and non-formal education\, and EU level policymakers. Participants will engage\nwith the materials\, exchange experiences with peers\, and feed structured input back into the project while discussing the project’s results and their relevance to the wider EU policy agenda on lifelong learning.\n \nThis event is part of the 2026 Lifelong Learning Week. \nRead the full programme or register here before the 24 November. \n\nSilver Rose Awards\nWednesday 2 December\, 18:30-21:30\nLa Tricoterie\, Rue Theodore Verhaegen 158 \nThe Silver Rose Awards is back for its 26th edition! The ceremony is an opportunity for civil society\, the trade union movement and representatives from progressive politics to come together to celebrate a standout individual and a truly impressive movement\, to deepen relationships and exchange ideas. SUMMARY:CLADES Conference: Language as a Tool for Democratic Engagement
DESCRIPTION:SOLIDAR+\, together with the University of Groningen\, Comenius University\, the University of Ghent\, and the University of Gloucestershire\, invites you to the CLADES Conference: Language as a Tool for Democratic Engagement. \nAbout the CLADES Project \nCLADES (Critical Language Awareness\, Democratic Engagement & Sustainability) is an Erasmus+ funded project running from October 2024 to August 2027\, coordinated by the University of Groningen alongside SOLIDAR+\, Comenius University\, the University of Ghent\, and the University of Gloucestershire. The project responds to a context of declining civic engagement and trust in institutions\, and the rise of populist and extremist discourses\, arguing that citizenship education has focused too heavily on skills and too little on the role communication itself plays in shaping democratic life and a sustainable society. Its core aim is to strengthen participants’ critical language awareness: helping them understand language as a force that shapes social reality\, and building their confidence to use their own voice for positive change. \nAbout the Conference \nThis conference builds on the materials developed under CLADES Resource Lab 1 and 2\, opening them up to a wider European audience. It brings together academics\, education and training stakeholders\, and EU-level policymakers to engage with the project’s materials\, exchange experiences\, and feed structured input back into CLADES\, while discussing the project’s results and their relevance to the wider EU policy agenda on lifelong learning. \nInterested? Click here to register (registrations close on 24/11) and find the programme here (Please note the timing indicated in the programme is CEST). \nThis event is part of the LLLWeek. \nTime & Location \nEuropean Parliament\, Brussels & Online | Wednesday 2 December 2026 | 14:00 – 17:30.
