Civil Society Alliance for Global Citizenship Education
Who are we?
The Civil Society Alliance for Global Citizenship Education brings together ca. 25 civil society organisations (CSOs) across Europe that are dedicated to advancing Global Citizenship Education (GCE).
Through campaigning, advocacy, awareness-raising, capacity building, and the development of learning materials, our members work to promote GCE from the perspectives of education policy, international cooperation, and sustainable development.
Together, we strive to foster a more inclusive, just, and sustainable Europe.
On 16 July, 2025, The Commission presented its proposal for the next Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF), covering the period from 2028-2034.
The Civil Society Alliance for Global Citizenship Education reviewed the proposal and shaped its response around one key issue: the place of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) within the priorities of the upcoming MFF proposal.
As the European Parliament and Member States prepare to negotiate the next MFF, the Alliance urges them:
- Do not give up on the DEAR Programme and its priorities
- Make GCE funding transparent, sustainable and predictable
- Ensure civil society participation and access to funding
- Look beyond the surface: build active global citizens, not just workers
