A healthy democratic ecosystem is composed and enrooted in the role of civil society and other organisations. Following the 2024 European elections, civil society organisations (CSOs) have a crucial role to play in shaping the direction of the European Union’s policies and priorities for the new mandate of the European Commission (2024-2029).
The European Green Deal (EGD), and Agenda 2030, with their ambitious agendas, aim to tackle climate change, to promote sustainability and to ensure a social and green transition in Europe.
These profound changes require structured engagement and meaningful participation of people and CSOs to ensure such transformations benefit all members of society.
While progress has been made since the adoption of the EGD, challenges remain in effectively involving people and CSOs in decision-making processes.
Therefore, the Forum will bring civil society organisations together to develop a memorandum to the EU on the future of citizens deliberation and EGD for green and social transition.
