The Social Europe Conference is an annual event in which the results of SOLIDAR's flagship publication on the state of social rights and civic space in Europe, the Social Rights Monitor, are presented. The Monitor has the main objective of assessing the level of implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights at national level reflecting the perspective of civil society. In doing so, the Monitor highlights where progress is still needed to ensure a truly Just EU, also considering the ongoing green and digital transition.
Starting from this analysis, this year's Social Europe Conference, co-hosted by MEP Patrizia Toia, brings together policy makers, civil society, researchers, and other stakeholders to discuss the pivotal role of the social and solidarity economy in making Europe’s green and digital transition socially just. This two-hour conference will highlight the potential of social economy to address the challenges posed by the current economic system while ensuring that social rights are a reality for all in the EU.
This Conference will serve as an occasion to bridge the gap between policy makers, civil society, and researchers, shedding light on the critical role of SSE in building a more sustainable and socially just Europe. By presenting the results of the Social Rights Monitor and promoting SSE as a viable alternative economic model, the conference aims to inspire concrete actions towards a more just future where both people and the planet thrive. Together, we will try to answer to the following questions:
How can SSE be an engine for the implementation of the EPSR in Europe?
What is the role of SSE in the green and digital transition?
How can SSE contribute to the shift towards a more socially and environmentally sustainable economic model?
