Economic and Social Rights Monitor – South East Asia

SOLIDAR network is active in East and South-East Asia with its partner organisation to enhance the progressive implementation of Economic and Social Rights, namely Freedom of Association, the right to social protection and decent work for all. Our work in the area is coordinated by our members SOLIDAR Suisse Hong Kong.

Between November 12th and 13th 2019, in Bangkok (Thailand), our network met to discuss the current situation of Economic and Social Rights (ESR) in the different countries of the area and to define how the EU can be a strong partner in promoting those rights.

This paper brings together the main outcomes of this meeting and reflects SOLIDAR members and partners’ contribution to the EU – SOUTHEAST ASIA CIVIL SOCIETY SEMINAR hosted by the European External Action Service (EEAS) on 26 November 2019 in Brussels as well as to the revision of the EU Action plan on Democracy and Human Rights covering the period 2015-2019.
